SEO Trends in 2020

February 1, 2020 By Hesham Zebida Leave a Comment

To keep myself informed about what’s going on in the SEO world; I used to jump from here and there sniffing SEO news websites.

I wanted to keep up with the latest SEO trends and news as much as possible, this will help me provide a better support for the WordPress Schema markup plugin I’ve developed.

Latter on, I started to collect several RSS feeds of popular SEO websites for my daily reads.

Today, I just felt it’s satisfying enough!

I feel the need to get more closer, and involve deeper. That’s how I got the idea for launching a new website related to SEO news, I call it SEO Trends and News.

I figured out it would fit my time better if I go with publishing weekly issues, so I will be posting about fresh SEO stories whenever I find something interesting or worth sharing through the week.

Schema Premium Plugin

February 1, 2019 By Hesham Zebida Leave a Comment

Finally; I brought the premium Schema Plugin out to the door.

Schema plugin is the most advanced plugin I’ve ever developed for WordPress CMS.

I believe it’s the most advanced schema.org plugin of all time since it’s packed with great features.

The Story of Schema Premium

Since the success of the free version of Schema that was released at wordpress.org plugin directory, the plugin reached 70,000+ active installs.

I’ve been maintaining and supporting the free plugin for more than 5 years now. I’ve also been active in responding to support threads at wp.org where the plugin is hosted.

In that journey; users kept asking me to add support for new schema.org types rather than Article and BlogPosting, but this isn’t something that I would add to the free version, it isn’t acceptable because it changes goals and objectives of the plugin.

Many of those users asked me to develop a premium version of the plugin because they want to pay for it.

I realized the need for a better schema.org tool, something that can work for professionals. Those, who knows what they are doing and want to have control of every piece of content.

So, I came up with Schema Premium.

It took about 14 months of hard work to get the plugin ready for release.

How I built the Schema Premium plugin

In short, I’ve used past 7 years of experience in developing SEO plugins, and some great tools to create a fully extensible schema.org framework plugin, which allow me to build on top of it amazing things.

ACF is Beautiful!

I needed to find a solution for creating post meta needed in the plugin to deal with post meta across the plugin pages, and on custom post types.

I found that Advanced Custom Fields plugin (ACF) will do the job perfectly.

Schema Premium relies on ACF Pro for registering all post meta fields. This is done based on complicated set of choices made by the user.

The good news is; we can include ACF Pro in our plugin.

So, Schema Premium has the power of ACF Pro as part of its core, which makes using it an interesting and smooth experience.

Why I haven’t released New Thesis Skins Recently

June 23, 2013 By Hesham Zebida 4 Comments

If you’ve been following -or a member of- ThesisAwesome.com, then probably you know that I haven’t released any new Skins for Thesis since a while. But, this doesn’t mean I am getting lazy, or I lost my interest in the project. Not at all, I am just waiting for the right moment since Thesis 2.0 is already in the market, and its first launch didn’t really went well.

Update: Good bye Thesis! I no longer develop for you!

Since the release of Thesis 2.0, many users wanted to make the switch, they were surprised, and most of them got really confused by the way this new Framework works.

Thesis 2.0 shipped with great functionality that has never been available for developers. Features that I’ve been dreaming of for a long time. Surprisingly, many people just didn’t get it, probably for the lack of imagination.

I got involved in the Thesis private testing group, which has been great experience. I had the chance to watch the framework enhanced in front of my eyes, and I became more confident of what I believe in.

I knew -being part of the testing group- it will take a while till we see the enhanced Framework. today, and finally… Thesis 2.1 beta is out, a new era in WordPress Themes development already began.

With that being said, I can tell the reason why I haven’t developed much for Thesis 2 is simply because I know my members, and I know what pain this will cost them, so I advised them not to make the switch from Thesis 1.x to 2.x till I personally give them the green light.

By doing this, and because there is nothing wrong with the older stable version, I think I made a good decision for my members and clients.

In my personal opinion, I consider Thesis 2 the most powerful WordPress Theme Framework on the planet (Today) and I think everyone should give it a go (on a test site).

I advise you to stick with the stable 1.8.5 version till Thesis 2.1 goes out of beta, so that you can enjoy a hassle free experience.
