So many of us has questions and wonders, and we all know that unsolved questions are more than the answered ones, I wrote in an older post about my dream to have a “questions and answers” website like Yahoo Answers, as it provide a great environment for generating community written posts from simple questions.

I have dreamed always to have a “questions and answers” website like Yahoo Answers, it would be great idea to generate community written posts from simple questions. Darren have talked about this idea in one of his recent posts, he is supporting my way of thinking because the idea is depending on generating content provided by community members discussions.

I have just came cross Daniel‘s blog and read about his second twitter contest. Thinking of twitter contests I found it’s a very nice idea to promote your twitter and get to know new friends that they maybe follow your twitts on twitter. This could be done by spreading the contest through participants.

One of the most important things for any website, is to have a help pages or a tour pages that gives a hand to your visitors and help them discover your website by providing a clear short descriptions. Also this is useful for your website when you tell your visitors what they will get by participating to it.

I had some experience on building social networks and communities, as I was working as an Editor and discussion forum Moderator for about 3 years. So I am going to tell you some ideas I have learned about how to start your own community. Specially self hosted communities like My Life Thinking community – for example.

A friend of mine asked me if it’s possible to share the Elgg theme I am running on My Life Thinking community, I was thinking to send to him the theme, but I say why not share it with everybody, it’s a wide open world after all!

I have talked before about the “Auto subscribe group” plugin for Elgg community, it’s a very useful plugin for your community, it let you assign default group or more than one group for all new members to become participants to it automatically when they sign-up a new account.

If you come cross this post by search, that probably means you are thinking about promoting your blog, or upgrading your blog category list on BlogCatalog. I will tell you about my personal experience because I have done it my self to promote My Life Thinking blog. As a fan of social networks and communities I have lots of accounts at the main top websites, I believe you can promote your website using the power of communities, but who ever you are and what ever your blog is about, it always depends on you being active, nothing good will happen just like that, and you will not get traffic by luck with out spending effort and time, and some times you have to spend money.
