The first method:

Is get paid to blog. Using this method, you create your blog and add a few good articles to it. Then you sign-up with paid blogging networks like Pay Per Post or Review Me and see what “opportunities” are available. These networks are filled with advertisers looking for blogger who can help them spread the word, and they are willing to pay. Accept the opportunity, write about it on your blog, and you get paid.

The second method:

Is AdSense WordPress blogs and it requires a little more technical know-how. You need to build a WordPress blog on a specific niche topic, and start writing some good content on it. At the same time, try to get links from other blogs by leaving comment on the blogs or by doing a link exchange with the blogger. The objective is to get more traffic who will click on your AdSense ads and make you money.

The third and most sophisticated method:

Is affiliate marketing with WordPress blogs. Again, you set-up a good WordPress blog but with this model the amount of content you publish is not as important as the “selling quality” of the content. Each post you write must pre-sell the web visitor and convince him to click on your affiliate links. When the visitor makes a purchase online after that, you get credited for the sale and earn commissions.

Ultimately, which model you choose depends on how much time and resources you can dedicate to creating and managing your blogs. Your best bet is to choose a low-investment option at first. When you get the hang of it, you can venture into other blogging models as well.

How to add Thumbnails and Links to WP-polls?

You can add any image you want simply by HTML to show the image or the link instead of using text, as some people will think that they are limited to add text only on the poll fields, but this is not true, you can add what ever HTML code you like, but don’t miss with that too much, just try to keep it simple and clean!

You can use this script in two ways, the first on is to Fully Backup your website Code, and the other use will be when you decide to move your website to another hosting and compete Godaddy file manager limited archiving file size.

Over the last few days I’ve been working on some online project, it was a dynamic website, using one of those CMS open source code that I love to work with. I was having a testing hosting server for my client’s website, now it’s ready to go online and to be published on the client’s hosting server account.

Unfortunately I couldn’t backup all files on the server, Godaddy file manager is limited to archive 20 megabits only and the website code exceed this size. It’s more than 30 megabits. Of course I could go for compressing folder by folder, but this will take the whole work day rather than doing mistakes and you start over and over again.

Finally I found the solution for this problem thanks to Web Hosting Hero and it’s Great Hosting Tutorials.

Go a head and Download Godaddy Backup Zip Archive Utility.

Although this script was originally developed to backup my GoDaddy website, it can probably be used with any Linux / Unix web host.

How To Use The Backup Script

1. Extract the PHP file from the Zip Archive Utility to your local drive.
2. Edit sitebackup.php using a non-formatting text editor such as Notepad.
3. Enter the password you wish to use to protect the script and save the file.
4. Upload sitebackup.php to the root of your website through FTP.
5. Open your web browser to http://www.yourwebsite.com/sitebackup.php
6. Enter your password in the text box and hit the Backup button.
7. Do not close your browser window. When the backup has completed you will see a link to download it.
8. Once you’ve downloaded the backup, delete fullsite.tar.gz from your website using your favorite FTP client.

New Media Bloggers Elgg plugins

I have added and tested some Elgg plugin that I thought it’s good to run them on the project, and I had to modify some of them to fit my requirements, specially positioning the ads, because I wanted to make sure  that I can track my ads on several parts and make it easy for me to know which section exactly is more active than other section on the social network.

Also you will notice that New Media Bloggers have a unique theme, I have used the theme_elgg_example and did some modification to it, also added Google Adsense positions on the theme. It’s not ready yet to give back to the Elgg community, but I will be sure in the feature to make it available for download after cleaning the code as I am planning to create more themes for Elgg 1.5 depending on the Elgg theme example.

They say my database is causing the shared resources to be over-utilized. This, in turn, affects the usage by other customers, and there is some query that I have to change in Wordpress StatPress plugin, it was the cause of the problem, I think because I didn’t set StatPress to delete older data from the database, so the file got so big, so they had to disable my database!

But.. How Godaddy disabled my database with out inform me first?

I was thinking about that, and say to my self this is not good at all, if I am going to expect that GoDaddy will turn my blog off each time a plugin cause a problem, this will be a nightmare.

Anyways.. after debating lots about how to fix my problem, I got sick of waiting for their reply day after day and wasting my time, so decided to create another database from my panel, and restore MyLifeThinking.com database backup to it. I consider my self so lucky because I got this backup file just one week before they cut the database!

How I did it?

You may ask yourself how I could build the tables and the structure of the new created database, well.. let me explain to you how I did it, at the beginning I was not sure how to do it, so I remember that I can use the applications on GoDaddy to create a new installation for Wordpress, so I did it and created a new blog on a sub folder, then I changed the database information on the config.php file, and then the last step was importing the data to the new database.

In this process I lost one post and a few comments, I know that I can wait more time to get my blog online again, so I preferred to get it now!

Why I will live under GoDaddy merci?

Some times I can not see any reason for using Godaddy hosting service, I think that most successful blogers use other website hosting for their blogs instead of GoDaddy!

I am thinking to move to another host, or at least try anew one, so plz give me some good suggestions! I will appreciate if you do!

I was checking the Questions plugin for Elgg, and decided to run a Demo website specially for it. At the same time I think this can generate some content for me when the questions start to play it’s role.

This Idea can be useful in different ways depending on the way you will use it. Some of us will use it as a fun game , I some time play the question and answers games, so what about playing it with real people with different backgrounds and ways of thinking? This would be interesting! Also if you are seeking information and knowledge then this is a nice and exiting way to do it.

I have to be clear and honest about the main purpose for creating this Demo website, I am welling to get community content for my blogs and also gain traffic to this Beta version of YourAnswer.info website. So Don’t forget you can do the same by joining now and give it a try.. I will spend the most of my earnings on developing my blogs and get more targeted traffic by advertising on different advertisements networks. Since I got this idea and I am testing some open source applications, but till now I didn’t make any progress, but finally I found something interesting. It’s a new plugin for Elgg called Questions, the plugin still under development , the available version now is Questions 0.4 , the progress of development is very promising, it’s provided by DF-Digital, I really would love to give it a try in the coming a few days, I already booked a domain name for this purpose since 1 year back. If you are interested on this just give me a visit after a few days, maybe you will find  a good news about the new website I am working.

I want to be sure that this plugin is working good before using it, I found already a website running the Questions plugin, it’s called Fcebook for kids, a very nice idea since Elgg is basically was used for Education. I thin I will add it to my list of 10+ communities and social networks powered by Elgg.

My idea will be complete if I  have a plugin for Google AdSense working on Elgg community, I would like to add an optional widget for Google AdSense to show in user profiles and community groups, this could attract members to show some activities in the community and earn money at the same time when someone click on their ads.

I have asked about it several time in the Elgg community but no one can find that plugin that it gives the member a new widget to add HTML code to his profile.
