Liferay The Best Portal and Social Office Open Source

by on January 28, 2009

In the past a few years, internet users were seeking the power of online networks and wanted to be a part of the big main communities and portals on the internet. Now the path is changing some how.. It’s getting more exiting to have your own community or portal and run it the way you want. Invite your friends or Biz partners or clients to your portal, and start to communicate.

Liferay Portal

Liferay Portal is a very interesting project, the most exciting thing that was catchy for me is “Share this application on any website” option in the LifeRay Portal, it gives you the code sharing all applications (plugins) you have on your portal to show it on any other website or blog, this is a great thing. So, just imagine that you can build you own community or portal, and you can share everything you have created with others the way you like.

It comes with everything you need!

Liferay Portal’s comprehensive collection of out of the box tools provide administrators and users everything they need to build a website, intranet, extranet, collaboration platform, and more.

Liferay Portal comes with over 60 tools, over 20 themes (skins), and a number of developer tools to provide you with as many resources as possible to accomplish whatever it is that you want to do (web publishing, collaboration, social networking, administration, etc.).

Editing the portal is very easy and fast! No need to know code, but little experience with similar applications in required. Everything is done by some clicks, almost all parts and areas can be edited the way you like including the look and feel.

Things are getting bigger?

If your biz suddenly expanded, there is no need to spend time or money for a new solution, Liferay can be expanded from the intranet to the extranet that reached outside partners.

Liferay Social Office

They say stay on the same page is better than run here and there searching for what you need to find on the internet, that’s much easier with Liferay Social Office, you can:

-    Work from the Desktop
-    Document Library
-    Team Calendar
-    Wikis
-    Blogs
-    Message Boards
-    Sites
-    Email client.
-    Instant Message
-    Activity Tracking
-    Announcements & Alerts

There is a standard editions that you can download from the downloads section on Liferay website. Or you can buy Liferay portal enterprise edition. This page provide some useful information about hosting requirements and installation.

Hi Hesham,

How are you? I hope you are fine.

Did you test this software and if yes, then are you able now to make a comparison between Elgg and this software?

Waiting for your reply.

My Regards

Some time ago MyOffice24x7 has introduced Liferay Induction Service, that is used by companies and organization for an initial introduction into Liferay portal capabilities, administration and portlet development. It is a hosted environment that runs stand-alone Liferay portal or Liferay Social Office platform. Extremely cost-effective setup for first engagements and proof of concept development. For more details refer to http://www.myoffice24x7.com/web/guest/software-as-service/special-hosting/liferay-induction-service
