I assume that some of us had participated on a few contests from all these contests running online on lots of blogs these days, one of the most reasons for contest organizers is to promote their blogs or (service and products), but after all it’s about gaining more traffic and new visitors!
Depending on contest types, Contest Organizers trying all the time to find the best voting system for their contests, there is some good WordPress plugins that do the job, and also a few websites that offers you different voting systems with different options and layouts, probably you will find what you need or you can try to customize your voting system some how to fit your contest needs.
I want to ask you for your opinion about this voting issue, by your experience or just by logic..

@Hesham, If you or anyone is able to vote every day then this can lead to a unfair advantage i would just vote regularly so that the person i want to win get lots of votes

As a site owner / webmaster, I can see the advantage of allowing people to vote once a day – that means a lot more pageviews/visits for your site.
But for the users it might be annoying having to come every day to vote for what they prefer.

@Klaus @ TechPatio, Good point… I had to forget about traffic on my contest not to annoy people, I can add also that tweeting everyday about the same thing and tell people to vote for you everyday will be so annoying that it may make you lose your fans!
If people came everyday to vote for your blog that means they really really loves you!

I think voting once is more reasonable, And I think the traffic that comes from voting everyday is that one with high bounce rate and short page review time and that not really good quality traffic ,so in my openion vote Once is enough to bring attention to your blog and of they like it it is better if the come to see browse your blog not just to vote.

Hi hesham. It really depends on what type of contest you are running. However if it is a simple “voting for the best” contest, as an example, then “vote once and thank you” is the only the way to go. If you allow more than once, then you are risking the outcome of the contest because there are unfortunately, always not so honest people (unless of course you can find a system that filters votes incredibly well).

@DiTesco, exactly.. just imagine someone works at a place that has 20 computers.. he can win all the way?
The good thing is WP-polls plugin use both IP and cookies to prevent another vote! and also it show you the IPs, but I am not sure how to check them, but I will give a try, it will be a study case for me!!
I will go for – vote once. Because that make more sense to me. Yes, when you make it as vote daily then people are more likely to change their vote as per their mood and desire. Thus, outcome of the voting system in that case may be doubtful. I mean -
* The winner may not be the deserving winner
* The deserving may not win
Thus, vote once is more acceptable to me.

For me, vote once & end it could be very good idea. But for bloggers, you might need to consider what’s the most popular concept among your bloggers & their frequency of visits to choose right option for any blogger.
