A friend of mine asked me if it’s possible to share the Elgg theme I am running on My Life Thinking community, I was thinking to send to him the theme, but I say why not share it with everybody, it’s a wide open world after all!
Actually this theme is the same “Simple Neutral Colour” theme for Elgg, thanks to Pete Harris for share it on the Elgg community, I have made some modification to it, added some advertising spaces to the header and the footer, and also a big background image under the main top menu where you can view all new members with photos only – members with out photos will not show here-
The “Simple Neutral Colour” theme could work great with the custom index page plugin, In this post I have talked about how to make a custom index page for your Elgg community website by using the “Custom Modular Index”, and there is also a minor updates like changing the background image for the twitter widget.
What Should I know before download?
This theme works fine on Elgg v1.1 and Elgg v1.2
It contains skins for all the plugins in the Elgg v1.1 full package.
You may need to edit the header.php and footer.php in the views folder in order to put your details.
What Should I do after download?
Upload the file to your /mod directory, and activate it from your Tool Administration page. Then use the up/down/top/bottom function to move the theme to the bottom of the plugin list (so that it loads last).
Don’t forget to edit those areas that have my links and My Life Thinking logo and other stuff, and put yours. It’s only 2 files that you should edit them, header.php and footer.php, you will find them in /mod/theme_simpleneutralcolour/views/default/page_elements/ you will find also the theme original files in the same directory, just be sure to save a copy before start plying, Enjoy!
Download the theme from here:
Download the UPDATED Simple Neutral Colour theme – For Elgg community.
That’s all for now!

I am not sure if I should submit it to the themes in the community as an update or not! what do you think?
I also have to thank Pete for the basis of my theme (Simple Neutral Theme.) It actually only took a little tweaking on my part, with the custom index tutorial from Dave Tosh.
Great work! I like this skin (structure and design are very logical). Author of this skin is really good and talent man!
Enjoy!
Outstanding! This is an awesome theme, works great with Elgg 1.2
It works “almost” perfectly in 1.5, but the floating header bar does not render perfectly. Any chance of porting this to Elgg 1.5? That would be awesome! Thanks!
@Amadeus, Thank you for your review, I should do that but maybe when 1.5 is ready! I will let you know about if there is something new.
Hi,
Very nice theme but very slow in loading. Can you please optimize it more so that it loads faster. Also, I would like to know if it will work with the latest version 1.5?
Thank you!
@sirfan, I didn’t upgrade yet to 1.5 , but I will let you know if there is something new, thanks for your comment.
Appreciate it, Hesham. Looking forward to seeing your awesome theme ported to v1.5.
Thanks, and keep up the great work!
i installed the theme but it is saying it as a misconfigured plugin . any one helps me please
@rohit, It’s woring for me just fine, I am so sorry .. i think Elgg can end with different setups depending on mods you are using! means I am not sure if I can help you specially I am not into coding that much!
Any update regarding Elgg 1.6 support? I am very much interested in using your wonderful theme.
