What is the Future of Famous Bloggers Club FBC100

by on September 8, 2009

When I first launched New Media Bloggers I was having more than 100 blog post ideas! I have focused the blog home page to show a social layout, I made a plan to attract readers for long time!

After publishing a few great interviews with FBC100 members I am still thinking about the future of the community and the blog! I am thinking about what is the importance of the club and how it can bring benefits to members. Is it going to be a blog for bloggers interviews? Is it going to organize new contests in the future? What else FBC100 will have for it’s members!

I didn’t think of Famous bloggers Club as just another blog that will contain 100 posts of member’s interviews and that’s it, I don’t want to limit the FBC100 to this, I am thinking lots about the FBC100 future!

If you visit the New Media Bloggers about page you will find the following: “NMBloggers is a Social Network for Making Money Online built on the contributions of its users. We are serious about creating a fun, safe, rewarding, and effective Social Network for Making Money Online, help us to make it a better place for everyone.”!

So.. that was the reason behind establishing this website, the goal is to create a trusted community and this is why it’s limited to 100 bloggers only to make the management of this community more easier and guarantee the full connectivity between it’s members specially most of members knows each other because there is so many familiar faces on the Club, and that means we are not new to each other, but we are getting to know each other more, and this could include all platforms of cooperation between FBC100 members if we can keep it a healthy and successful environment!

My Idea is:

To create a friendly community, all members can get to know each others in easy way, this is why interviews was publish to introduce members to each other and to the world, so.. during to process of completing the 100 membership members, I will be thinking about the way how members should interact and cooperate. We will set rules for it.

As you can see, FBC100 members is from different niches, prospects, and they also have different skills but the only thing they share all together is all members are so active persons which leads to the good part of my idea, I listed here a few points to discuss and looking forward to expand this discussion with you:

  1. FBC100 could be a social network for Making Money Online
  2. FBC100 could be a nice place for pronouncing your contests and help you getting sponsors.
  3. Ask members for uniting and projects cooperation!
  4. Another idea is to have a job board on FBC100, so all members can post about their needs of design, developing, and marketing and other related stuff!

Should FBC100 have it’s own social network application? Or it’s better to keep it simple as a blog?

I want to listen to your opinion about what this community can give, I want to know what you want to see on FBC100, I really need your help on that, so plz shout any ideas comes into your mind!

I too felt what are you going to do with NMBloggers after that target 100. You made a good choice.

Don’t ever forget to invite me to test those wonderful changes whenever you have started testing/implementing.

Thank you @BlogrPro, I have posted this post to get help on some ideas that may work for FBC100!

1)Divide 100 into logical groups.
2) Name each group.
3) Make sure each group contains bloggers from different niches.
4) Assign projects and rate each group according to their performance.
5) The winner group receives prizes from all other groups. (Interviews, linkbacks, promotions, banners)

Rinse and repeat. Just an idea.

I guess it could be pretty cool to have FBC100 as a “society” or “community” as you say.

Keeping it as a blog and maybe allow members to use a wordpress login to gain access to member features – a simple forum etc. for making connections, deals etc.

Obviously some of the 100 bloggers might not be interested in that and so they should be able to “give up” their spot for somebody else to enter it – or simply if a blogger has not been “active” for 3-6 months or something?

Will be interesting to see what you find out :)

@Klaus @ TechPatio, I am looking forward to see FBC100 as a social network one day!

I am not thinking about removing any member from the community as I think all the time that they are so active members! but of course if someone asked he is free to do it!

Thanks for your idea about the forum, this could be something possible!

I think what you have done is amazing and helps other bloggers out a lot by getting out there.

I don’t think they should give up their spot if they have not been active otherwise you are giving the wrong impression although I agree with Rajeev about creating groups for the blogs you have listed already.

That would mean that mean you could have 10 groups each holding 100 blogs/sites in.

@George Serradinho, Wow.. George.. dividing into groups is great, but expanding all this to 100 member in each group is not going to be an easy work! but for sure it’s an awesome idea, thanks a lot! this may need an application to manage groups!

Rajeev Edmonds actually has a pretty good idea. If you were to split the 100 into groups it would allow more room to get each group to 100.

His idea is a bit more elaborate regaridng the contest etc… but if you wanted to do more interviews this would be a great way.

You would have to rename everything to FBC100′s

Hesham September 10, 2009 at 4:52 PM

@bbrian017, Rajeev idea is excellent no doubt, it means expanding the members to 1000 by groups of 100s :) cool!

To keep with interviews is also a good idea!

Renaming to FBC100′s is on the plan, this is the brand then!

Oh! Brian, this will eat my time :)

First and if I may, I believe your title meant to be “the future” and not the “feature”, right?

Second, and at this moment, nothing comes immediately in my mind as far as any suggestion is concerned. Nevertheless I also think that Rajeev’s idea is definitely a good way to start or at the very least, somewhere within those lines.

@DiTesco, You are right, I have corrected the mistake, thanks!

Thanks for your opinion, I really needed to hear from you, I just want to collect some opinions that will help me to think good about FBC100s!

I think it would be good if it is left as a blog. IT would be great blog if you something like mashable where people from different niche contribute towards a great blog. Or it can be guest posts on a rotating basis.

The jobs can be displayed in the sidebar as is on a lot of blogs.

RAjeev has good points too!

Having a game plan before you execute it is always a good idea. So is asking for feedback, but it is your site so do with it what you like. You can always amend it over time. You built it, and we will follow.

I like starting with 100 and stop there. You can always do a spin off group, and call it something else, or have different divisions like they do in the NFL (I am stoked the season just started!)

Managing this monster could eventually ruin your family life, so be careful of what you wish for. I like the interviews, and would encourage you to focus on the first plateau before moving on to the next.

I think that it would be great to have all kinds of resources in one place – a forum for the top bloggers to discuss methodology at, a social network / bookmarking site to promote posts, etc. The job board sounds nice as well. Why not turn it into a one stop resource and inspiration?

@Kikolani, To centralize or to not centralize.. this is the question!

Each one of us have something the other doesn’t have! is it possible to connect all together.. each member provide his best valuable treasure and create a powerful community that can compete or at least show the monsters of the internet that we exists?

I believe that if FBC100 members unite some how we will get great benefits and strong promotions for our blogs and Biz!

I like the one stop resource for bloggers! What a unique community!

Oh I think I went so far with my comment :) I should do this in a separate post!

Let me share the following with you, Hesham and I hope this won’t come out as a blogpost :D Straightforward to the point, I think you should keep a sharp line between the ‘blog’ and the ‘social site’ itself in order not to fell into any kind of lost.

The goals you mentioned and future is for the “FBC 100 Club” so let the blog as is for now, simple and dealing with promoting the whole site. Nevertheless, maybe you need to make more communications with the current members to hear what they think and I think this can be done in private between all of you; via list board for example to avoide missing the points with the readers of your blog!

On the other hand, I think keeping yourself with the 100 memeber requires more effort to keep the club fixed at this number till you shape the final list of your members. In the future, incha’allah, when everything is clear, open the membership for more people!

p.s. that’s all. It came out as a mini post :D

@Hicham, The good thing on your advice is that I always hear the sound of wisdom Hicham!

I am trying to follow the advice, and you are right about handling the 100 members first then we can expand latter when we are sure that everything will work good for everybody, thanks a lot!

Mitch September 12, 2009 at 10:55 PM

I hadn’t heard of your club either, Heshem, so I just went and read what you posted for “alone” to see.

It’s kind of the same concept that Problogger wrote about the guys who had the blogger consortium, only it’s about 6 or 7 of them and they’re staying hidden. Yours is in the open and has a much bigger group, which offers the possibility of opening up a lot of blogs who participate. The danger, of course, is if you invite someone who doesn’t really contribute all that much; I saw where others mentioned that, but it really won’t work well if all 100 of the folks you invite don’t treat the concept in the manner you’re hoping they will.

As for any ideas, the only real idea I’d have is maybe a secret forum or listserve for all the members, maybe a brief newsletter, so everyone can see who the other members are and their topics. Maybe there should be a minimum commitment from each member to post a comment to 2 or 3 blogs from other members a month, or whatever figure you come up with.

Good luck with it all; I applaud you for giving it a shot.
